Why recruiters use blind profiles
Prevent candidates going around you
When a client receives a CV with a candidate's name and LinkedIn profile, some will make direct contact — cutting out the agency fee. A blind profile gets the client engaged on the candidate's merits first. The name comes later, once you have a written Terms of Business in place.
Prevent unconscious bias from undermining your shortlist
Blind profiles let clients assess candidates on skills, experience, and achievements — not on names, addresses, or education institutions that can trigger unconscious bias. Many clients now request blind profiles specifically for shortlists at the hiring-manager stage.
Protect candidates through early-stage conversations
Candidates trust you with their CV before they have agreed to be put forward to a specific client. A blind profile lets you test client interest without breaching that trust or exposing the candidate to a company they may not want to approach directly.
Common questions
Is this tool free?
Yes, fully free. No account required. You can generate up to 10 blind profiles per hour. The profile is shown on screen and can be copied to your clipboard — there is no PDF download for this tool.
What information does it remove?
Everything that could identify the candidate or their employer: full name, contact details, LinkedIn and GitHub URLs, specific employer names (replaced with descriptors like "Series B SaaS company" or "FTSE 100 retailer"), exact dates (replaced with durations like "3 years"), and university names (replaced with degree level and subject). Achievements, skills, career arc, and seniority level are preserved in full.
Does the CV text get stored?
No. Nothing is saved. The CV text is processed and the anonymised profile is returned to your screen — that is all. Close the page and both the original CV and the profile are gone.
What format should I paste the CV in?
Plain text only. Copy the text from a Word document, paste from a PDF (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C in most PDF viewers), or export from LinkedIn (PDF → copy text). Formatting, tables, and graphics are stripped by the AI anyway — plain text produces the best results.
While you have the candidate in mind
Send the profile with your Terms of Business already signed
Every introduction is a liability without a signed ToB. Backdoor hires, direct approaches, off-limits breaches — they all start with an introduction that was not properly documented.
